Ninja, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri.
Ninja is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri, running four inversions along a black track. Riders sit in cars that hang slightly to the outside of the track, which opens up the view below during the turns.
The ride first opened in 1986 under the name Scream Machine at Expo 86 in Vancouver, Canada. Three years later, it was moved to Eureka, Missouri, and relaunched under its current name in April 1989.
The name Ninja refers to the Japanese warrior tradition of stealth and speed, and the black track color reinforces this theme visually. Riders experience this through sudden direction changes that feel sharp and unpredictable, much like the movements the name evokes.
There is a height requirement to board, so it is worth checking before joining the line. Arriving early in the day or later in the afternoon generally means less waiting.
Although the ride was originally built for a world fair, it still runs daily on a course designed for a temporary event. Moving it from Vancouver to Missouri meant dismantling the entire steel structure and transporting it thousands of miles across the continent.
