Adam

Adam is one of the largest giant sequoias in Mountain Home Grove, standing at an enormous height with a massive base. The wood of these trees is remarkably resistant to fire and insects, allowing them to survive for hundreds or even thousands of years.

A rancher named Jesse Hoskins discovered this tree in 1884 and gave it its biblical name from the Book of Genesis. Giant sequoias emerged millions of years ago in this mountain region and are now protected as part of California's forest heritage.

Local visitors and conservation groups regard this tree as an important symbol of the forest's resilience and natural heritage. Walking around its immense trunk helps you understand the scale of these ancient giants that have shaped this landscape.

To reach the tree, you need a vehicle with good ground clearance for Tub Flats Road, followed by a short, easy walk on a maintained path. The trail is accessible for most visitors in reasonable condition.

Though one of the world's largest trees, it is often overlooked because it sits farther away than other well-known sequoia groves. Many visitors fail to notice how dramatically the trunk narrows with height, yet still reaches skyward with tremendous strength.
