Adventure River, Water park in Memphis, Tennessee, US.
Adventure River was a large water park in Memphis featuring multiple water slides, including the popular Geronimo slide, along with a wave pool and sandy beach area. The facility offered different water zones designed to appeal to both thrill-seekers and visitors looking for a more relaxed experience.
The park opened in 1985 and operated successfully for about a decade as a popular destination. By 1998, the facility was restructured and relaunched under a new name with the addition of go-kart attractions before eventually closing.
The water park served as a popular gathering spot where local families cooled off during hot summers and spent leisure time together. The wave pool and sandy beach created a relaxed setting that reminded visitors of a tropical vacation destination.
The park operated seasonally from late May through early September, making it important to check exact dates before planning a visit. Children below a certain height were required to wear life jackets in all water areas, so families with younger kids should keep this requirement in mind.
The original site of the park was completely transformed after closure and now houses an industrial building containing offices for major companies like Johnson Controls and Terminix. Nothing remains visible of the former recreation facility on the property.
