Anders Run Natural Area

Anders Run Natural Area is a protected forest in Warren County with dense old-growth stands and a stream running through it. A network of trails guides visitors through the woodlands and along the water.

The forest contains hemlock and pine trees that are several centuries old and survived intensive logging in the early 1800s. These ancient trees show what the woodland landscape was like before large-scale human changes.

A small stone house from 1841 sits within the property, telling the story of early settlement in Warren County. This modest building shows how pioneers lived in this forest-filled region.

The property is easy to walk through on foot, with marked trails leading through the forest area. Spring through fall offers the best visiting conditions, when weather is mild and paths are accessible.

A particularly large tree, the General Irvine Pine, grows within the protected area and stands out for its size and girth. This tree often catches the attention of walkers looking for natural features during their visits.
