Baileys Harbor Light, Historic lighthouse in Baileys Harbor, US.
Located on an island at the southeast side of the harbor, this lighthouse features a distinctive lantern room resembling a bird cage structure.
The federal government commissioned Alanson Sweet to build the lighthouse, which began operations at the start of navigation season in 1853.
The lighthouse stands as a testament to Door County's maritime heritage, representing early navigation methods along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
While the lighthouse remains on private property, visitors can view the structure from downtown Baileys Harbor parks or through kayak tours.
The lighthouse ceased operations in 1869 when the Baileys Harbor Range Lights system replaced it due to numerous ship grounding incidents.
