Brew House Association, Arts center in South Side Flats, Pittsburgh, US
The Brew House Association is an arts center in the South Side Flats neighborhood featuring gallery spaces, performance areas, and artist studios distributed across multiple floors. The multi-story building at the corner of Mary and 21st Streets provides space for rotating exhibitions and a resident community of creative workers.
The building was constructed in 1899 as a production facility for the Duquesne Brewing Company and operated as a brewery for decades. After brewing operations ended, it was converted into an artist collective in 1991, transforming it into a space for creative work.
The space is shaped by working artists who occupy studios throughout the building and actively engage with the galleries. Exhibitions here showcase contemporary art and performances that reflect the creative community living and working inside.
The center is open to visitors on most weekends and one weekday, with free admission to the gallery spaces. Accessible entry is available from the southern entrance along 21st Street.
The upper floors house specialized workshops for welding and pottery where artists refine their technical skills and craft. These workshop spaces form an integral part of the daily creative activity within the building.
