Circus World Museum, Historical circus museum in Baraboo, United States.
Circus World Museum is a circus museum spanning roughly 64 acres with around 30 buildings that house exhibition halls, performance spaces, and former winter quarters along Water Street. The grounds contain structures for displays and shows, allowing visitors to explore how traveling circus operations functioned.
The Ringling Brothers established their circus business in Baraboo in 1884, bringing a new form of entertainment to the region. The venture later merged with Barnum and Bailey to create a large railroad-based circus operation.
Live performances under the main tent feature trapeze artists, acrobats, and musicians who keep American circus traditions alive for audiences today. Visitors experience how these performance arts continue to be valued and practiced.
The museum operates from March through August with various attractions and shows throughout the day. Plan to spend several hours exploring the grounds and watching the live performances.
The museum houses over 260 restored circus wagons in a dedicated pavilion, representing the largest collection of historic circus vehicles in North America. These wagons showcase the craftsmanship and decorative traditions of circus travel.
