Manchester Street Bridge

Manchester Street Bridge is a road bridge spanning the Baraboo River within Ochsner Park, featuring a steel camelback truss design that carries pedestrians and traffic. The structure crosses the waterway and connects areas on both sides of the park.

Built in 1884 by Milwaukee Bridge and Iron Works, the bridge replaced an earlier structure destroyed by flooding. It was constructed to restore an important crossing after the previous one was lost to water damage.

The bridge shows visitors the engineering approaches of its era through its visible design and construction details. Walking across it offers a sense of how people once moved between neighborhoods using this kind of structure.

The bridge is easily accessed from Ochsner Park and can be reached on foot without difficulty. It is well integrated into the park and straightforward to visit.

Only two camelback truss bridges remain in Wisconsin, and this one is the sole example from the 1800s. This rare construction style makes it especially valued among bridge enthusiasts.
