The Eagle Hill Historic District contains over 400 buildings spread across 40 acres, featuring Victorian-era residential structures in Italianate and Second Empire styles.
The East Boston Company initiated residential development between 1834 and 1900, transforming the area from empty land into a neighborhood of single and multi-family houses.
The district includes notable properties such as the Donald McKay House, Trinity Neighborhood House, Paul Curtis Mansion, and William Waters Jr House on White Street.
The district boundaries extend along Meridian, Princeton, and White Streets, meeting at Prescott Square, with the East Boston High School positioned at the hilltop.
The area evolved from its initial concept as an elite residential suburb to accommodate increasing housing demands through the construction of three-flat buildings.
