University City of Caracas

The University City of Caracas is a sprawling campus with modern architecture, covered walkways, and green spaces integrated throughout its layout. The grounds include academic buildings, sports facilities, a large stadium, and botanical areas with diverse plant collections.

Construction of the campus began in 1940 under architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva's vision and continued through the 1960s. This project shaped educational architecture in the region through its forward-thinking design approach.

The campus displays artworks by international artists throughout its public spaces and plazas. Visitors can encounter these pieces while walking through the grounds, experiencing how art is woven into the daily environment.

The campus is large and requires time to explore its different areas on foot. Wear comfortable shoes as you will walk considerable distances between zones.

Within the campus sits an artificial lagoon shaped like Venezuela itself, serving as both a water feature and a symbol of the nation. Many visitors overlook this geographical detail that is embedded in the overall campus design.
