UCV Clock Tower

The UCV Clock Tower is a 25-meter tall concrete structure on the University City campus featuring three twisted columns as its main supports. The tower combines structural engineering with timekeeping systems and functions as a landmark on the grounds.

The structure was designed and built in the early 1950s as part of the University City development initiative. It represents modernist design principles that were promoted in Venezuela during that period.

The tower stands at Rectory Plaza, a central meeting point where students and faculty gather daily throughout the year. Its three intertwined columns symbolize the connection between art, architecture, and academia, reflecting the institution's core values.

The tower is located in the central area of campus and is easily accessible on foot from main pathways. Visitors can view and approach it from various routes throughout the University grounds.

The clock mechanisms and electrical systems are original installations from the 1950s and remain functional today. These preserved technical components demonstrate the engineering quality of that era.
