Torre Polar I

Torre Polar I is an office building at Plaza Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela, standing 17 stories tall with a dark blue glass facade. The structure provides multiple office spaces and serves as headquarters for Empresas Polar corporation.

Construction of Torre Polar I began in 1951 and finished in 1954, making it the first skyscraper built in the capital. A major renovation in 1981 replaced the original greenish glass facade with dark blue glass, creating the appearance seen today.

The building displays a large neon sign with the Polar brand typography on its exterior, which featured dynamic lighting effects until 2010. This branded marker became a recognizable part of the skyline for generations of residents and visitors.

The building sits directly on Plaza Venezuela and is easily accessible from the central business district. The location provides good visibility from various points around the city.

When completed in 1954, the building featured advanced elevator systems and innovative air conditioning technology that were remarkably modern for that era. These technical features helped establish it as the city's first major high-rise structure.
