Ciudad Tiuna, Housing development in Libertador District, Caracas, Venezuela.
Ciudad Tiuna is a large housing complex inside the Fuerte Tiuna military base in Caracas, Venezuela, made up of apartment blocks, schools, health clinics, and sports facilities. The buildings are laid out in an organized grid, giving the place the feel of a self-contained town rather than a typical city neighborhood.
Construction began in 2011 on land released from the Fuerte Tiuna military base, originally to house people displaced by flooding. Over time the project grew into a permanent residential area for both military personnel and civilians.
Ciudad Tiuna was built for military families but today also houses civilians who lost their homes in natural disasters, which shapes how residents share the space. Schools and sports areas serve both groups, giving the place a mixed community feel that differs from most neighborhoods in Caracas.
The complex sits inside a military base, so visitors should expect access controls at the entrance and follow the rules in place at the gate. The area is large and spread across several blocks, so it helps to know in advance where the facility you need is located.
Part of the construction was carried out by teams from several different countries, which is unusual for a housing project of this kind. This mix of builders left visible differences in the design and finishing of some sections, which you can notice when walking between blocks.
