Phu Yen

The province spans across 5,060 square kilometers of land, with 70 percent mountainous terrain and a 189-kilometer coastline along the South China Sea.

In 1611, General Van Phong, under the command of Nguyen Hoang, conquered the Champa territory of Ayaru and established the province of Phu Yen.

The province maintains traditions of multiple ethnic groups, including Vietnamese, Cham, E De, and Ba Na peoples, each contributing to local customs and practices.

National Route 1 and the North-South Railway connect the province to major Vietnamese cities, while Dong Tac Airport provides domestic flight services.

The Song Hinh hydroelectric plant generates substantial power for the region while creating a large artificial lake in the southwestern section of the province.
