Dieu De Pagoda, Buddhist temple near Gia Hoi Bridge in Hue, Vietnam.
Dieu De Pagoda is a Buddhist temple situated on the banks of Ho Thanh River in Hue. The complex features four low towers positioned around its main gate and houses statues of Buddha and various Bodhisattvas within its halls.
The temple was founded in 1844 under King Thieu Tri and became nationally important during the Nguyen Dynasty era. It became a site of political upheaval in 1963 when Buddhist tensions led to widespread protests across Vietnam.
The temple serves as a center for Buddhist practice where monks and local people gather for ceremonies tied to the lunar calendar. Visitors can observe how daily rituals shape the rhythm of the place and connect the community to deeper spiritual roots.
The temple is open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM with no entrance fee required. The location on Bach Dang Street makes it easy to reach and visit at any time during operating hours.
The temple was built on the former birthplace of Prince Mien Tong, the son of King Minh Mang. From this spot, visitors can see the historic Dong Ba gate standing across the river.
