National Assembly of Vietnam, Legislative building in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, Vietnam.
The National Assembly of Vietnam is a single-chamber legislature in Ba Dinh, Hanoi, where 500 deputies gather for sessions. The chamber hall occupies the central portion of the building and accommodates plenary meetings during twice-yearly sessions.
The first parliament convened in 1946 with 300 deputies and initially served North Vietnam. Following reunification in 1976, it extended to the entire country and increased the number of seats.
The National Assembly reflects Vietnam's political system through its structure, where elected deputies represent different regions and ethnic groups across the country.
Visits are allowed only during official events or with prior registration, as the building primarily serves deputies and government staff. Session dates usually fall in spring and autumn months when regular legislative periods take place.
A dedicated council within the parliament focuses solely on matters concerning the country's 54 ethnic groups. This body allows minority communities to raise their concerns directly at parliamentary level.
