Al Saleh Mosque, Religious complex in Sanaa, Yemen
The Al Saleh Mosque is a religious complex in Sanaa covering more than 22 hectares and featuring six minarets. The facades combine white limestone elements with dark basalt and red granite columns.
Construction started in 2000 and lasted eight years. It became the largest modern mosque in Yemen.
The name honors the former president, while the design draws on traditional Yemeni architecture. Women use separate areas, and the complex serves as a center for religious gatherings.
The prayer hall accommodates tens of thousands of worshippers and includes separate facilities. Visitors will find a large parking area on site.
The complex features 23 domes of different sizes distributed across the grounds. The central dome measures more than 20 meters (66 feet) in height.
