Sunsari District, Administrative division in eastern Nepal
Sunsari District spans 1,257 square kilometers in the Outer Terai region, encompassing cities like Inaruwa, Itahari, Jhumka, Dharan, and Duhabi.
The district emerged from Morang District in 1962 when Nepal restructured its administrative divisions into 14 zones and 75 districts.
The population of 753,328 residents includes Bahun, Chhetri, Madheshi, Limbu, and Tamang communities, speaking Nepali, Maithili, Tharu, and Urdu languages.
The district contains two sub-metropolitan cities and ten municipalities, with the District Administration Office in Inaruwa managing local governance and services.
Religious sites such as Budha Subba Temple, Ramdhuni, Chataradham, Baraha, Bishnupaduka, Dantakali, and Pindeshor Babadham mark the district's landscape.
