Alaniya National Park

The national park encompasses 549 square kilometers of diverse terrain, ranging from alpine meadows at 1,100 meters to Mount Uilpata at 4,646 meters.

Scientists advocated for nature preservation in North Ossetia since the 1950s, leading to the establishment of Alaniya National Park on February 18, 1998.

Ancient stone towers, fortresses, and burial grounds within the park boundaries demonstrate the historical presence of the Alanian civilization in these mountains.

The park receives visitors from May through October, with access through a single road passing through the Aksinta Canyon from Vladikavkaz.

The Karaugom Glacier stands as the lowest glacier in the Caucasus Mountains, descending to an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level.
