Альдикон, Nature reserve in Amur Oblast, Russia
Aldikon is a protected nature reserve in Amur Oblast covering roughly 250,000 hectares of wetlands, lakes, and forests. It spreads across Mazanovsky and Selemdzhinsky districts and protects ecological systems in the Aldikon River basin.
The reserve was established on December 30, 2002 to preserve valuable ecological landscapes in the region. This action protected critical habitats that were at risk from human activity.
The name comes from the Evenki language and refers to stony river bottoms. This reflects how indigenous peoples have named and understood the landscape features of this region.
The area follows strict protection rules, so visitors should follow posted access guidelines when visiting. Appropriate footwear is essential due to boggy and wet ground conditions throughout the reserve.
The reserve serves as a crucial stopover and feeding ground for migratory water birds traveling through Eurasia. Its extensive moss and peat bogs also create protected pathways for roe deer during their seasonal movements.
