State Art and Sculpture Museum, Art and sculpture museum in Hacettepe district, Turkey.
The Ankara Art and Sculpture Museum is housed in a building in the Hacettepe district and holds a substantial collection of Turkish paintings and sculptures spanning from the late 1800s to today. The galleries contain works showing artistic movements and creative approaches across more than a century of development.
The building was constructed between 1927 and 1930 by architect Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu as the Türkocağı Building during Atatürk's era of national reform. It was created initially as a cultural center and later transformed into an art museum.
The museum displays works by artists who shaped Turkish artistic expression across different periods and movements. Walking through the galleries, you see how painting and sculpture developed as forms of Turkish cultural identity.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and welcomes visitors during these days. Inside you will find a cafeteria and a shop where you can buy exhibition catalogs and small items.
Inside the building sits a historical concert hall with seating for around 400 people that hosts performances and cultural events throughout the year. This hall blends early 20th-century architecture with contemporary use for live presentations.
