II. Evkaf Apartmanı

II. Evkaf Apartmanı is an early 20th-century residential building in Altındağ with a rectangular design and a central courtyard, multiple stories, and symmetrically positioned staircases. The structure includes retail spaces on the lower level and residential units on the upper floors.

Architect Mimar Kemaleddin Bey completed this building in 1930, marking a transition period between Ottoman architectural elements and modern construction methods in Turkey. The structure reflects the shift from traditional to contemporary building techniques of that era.

The building houses the Küçük Theater with 467 seats and the Refik Ahmet Sevengil Theater Library, which holds an extensive collection of play scripts. These two cultural institutions make the place an important center for theater arts and dramatic literature in the city.

The building is located on Istiklal Street in the Ulus district and serves as headquarters for the State Theaters General Directorate. The facade features distinctive stone patterns created through specialized plastering techniques, with horizontal lines serving as decorative elements across the surface. This crafted surface treatment is a characteristic detail of construction from that period.
