Schronisko na Zaroślaku, Mountain hut in Chornohora range, Ukraine
Schronisko na Zaroślaku is a mountain hut in the Chornohora range, situated at 1250 meters elevation on the southeastern slopes of the Kozmieska massif. The building stands approximately 2.6 kilometers east of Hoverla peak and serves as a base for hikers exploring this section of the Eastern Carpathians.
The first structure on this site was built in 1876, followed by a new building in 1881 designed by the Stanisławów Branch of the Tatra Society. The facility was repurposed as an Olympic sports base during the 1970s before later returning to its role as a mountain shelter for hikers.
The mountain refuge served as a gathering point for hikers exploring the Eastern Carpathians, providing shelter for up to 150 visitors at its peak.
The site operates within Carpathian National Park and offers accommodation along with access to various hiking trails throughout the mountain area. Visitors should prepare for changing weather conditions, especially when planning longer treks in the high altitude environment.
The hut served as a meeting point for mountain enthusiasts from different countries exploring the region's highest peaks. Its strategic location allowed visitors to reach multiple significant summits on the same day from this base.
