Melitopol Raion

Melitopol Raion encompasses 7,081 square kilometers of territory in southeastern Ukraine, with the city of Melitopol serving as its administrative center.

The district underwent substantial territorial reform in July 2020, when Ukrainian authorities reorganized Zaporizhzhia Oblast by reducing the number of raions from 25 to 5.

The district contains sixteen separate hromadas, each representing distinct administrative communities that maintain local governance and cultural traditions within the larger raion structure.

The district maintains a population of 276,638 residents as of 2022, with a regional postal code system ranging from 72330 to 72384.

Following the 2022 Russian military presence, the district experiences frequent resistance activities from local Ukrainian partisan groups throughout its territory.
