The settlement stands at 22 meters above sea level, featuring residential areas and industrial facilities across its developed urban landscape.
In 1874, a railway station named Novooleksiivka was established under the Russian Empire, leading to the gradual formation of a new settlement.
The population of over 10,000 residents represents multiple language groups, including Ukrainian speakers at 40% and Russian speakers at 30% of inhabitants.
The settlement contains both an orthodox church dedicated to the Protection of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and a mosque called Adzhy Belial Dzhami.
A new law enacted on January 26, 2024, transformed Novooleksiivka from an urban-type settlement into a rural settlement as part of administrative reforms.
