Dauphin County, County in Pennsylvania, United States.

Dauphin County spans 558 square miles of land and water, with the Susquehanna River marking its western border in south-central Pennsylvania.

The county, established in 1785, received its name from Louis Joseph, the first son of French King Louis XVI and heir to the French throne.

The Lykens Valley contains an Amish community of eight church districts, formed by families who moved from Lancaster County for agricultural opportunities.

The county seat Harrisburg connects to major highways and provides public transportation services through bus networks and railway stations.

Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station, located within the county, gained attention during the 1979 nuclear incident and remained operational until 2019.
