Hersheypark, Amusement park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States.
This facility is an amusement park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, covering about 121 acres (49 hectares) with 76 rides and an 11-acre (4.5-hectare) water park with multiple swimming areas. The grounds contain roller coasters, family attractions, restaurants, and themed sections.
Milton S. Hershey opened this recreational area in 1906 as a leisure space for employees of his chocolate factory, starting with a pavilion and baseball field. Over the decades, the grounds grew through numerous expansions into a major regional amusement park.
The names of rides often reference chocolate products, and candy stores are distributed throughout the grounds. Visitors can receive samples of chocolate at various stations, making the connection between amusement park and local confectionery production visible.
The grounds are hilly, so visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow time for walks between sections. On hot summer days, arriving early helps reduce wait times at popular rides.
The Chocolatetown section opened in 2020 and includes a major roller coaster reaching a height of about 210 feet (64 meters). The expansion cost around 150 million dollars and brought new restaurants and shops into this part of the grounds.
