Ambassador Theater, Broadway theater in Midtown Manhattan, United States
The Ambassador Theatre sits diagonally on West 49th Street, featuring an Adam-style auditorium with ornate plasterwork and a capacity of 1114 seats.
Herbert J. Krapp designed this 1921 theater for the Shubert brothers during a post-World War I construction period that included four theaters in the area.
The theater transitioned through various roles, from hosting operettas to serving as a radio broadcast studio before returning to live performances in 1956.
The Ambassador Theatre provides infrared listening devices, wheelchair-accessible entrances, and designated seating areas in the orchestra section for visitors with mobility needs.
The entire construction of the Ambassador Theatre took only 82 days, setting a record time for theater building in New York City.
