Malyovitsa hut, Mountain hut in Samokov Municipality, Bulgaria
Malyovitsa hut is a three-story mountain lodge located at 1960 meters elevation, with renovated guest rooms and a large communal lounge. The building accommodates travelers with basic amenities needed for mountain stays.
The lodge was established in 1934 and marked the beginning of organized mountain tourism in the Rila region. This early infrastructure paved the way for mountain recreation to develop in this part of Bulgaria.
The hut serves as a vital waypoint along the European long-distance trail E4, linking Sofia with some of Bulgaria's highest mountain ranges. For many climbers, this location marks a natural resting point during journeys through the Rila region.
The location is reachable via approximately one hour of walking from the Central Mountain School parking area, with two water refill spots along the marked trail. The path is generally well-maintained and relatively flat during the main season.
The grounds permit official camping beside the river for visitors seeking to stay longer. The surrounding rock walls host numerous climbing routes with bolts and traditional protection, especially popular during summer months.
