Mechit is a mountain summit located in the Rila range with a rounded peak shape. The summit sits at approximately 2,570 meters (8,430 ft) and forms part of the larger alpine system.

The Rila Mountains have long served local communities as natural reference points and boundaries. This summit was part of these important geographical features in Bulgaria's mountain landscape.

The name Mechit is shared by the peak and the hut "Mechit" standing about three hours north of the summit, so the toponym marks both a mountain and a stopping point in the Malyovishki part of northwestern Rila. The peak rises between the valleys of the Lopushanitsa and Levi Iskar rivers.

The summit lies in the Malyovishki part of northwestern Rila, between the Lopushanitsa and Levi Iskar valleys. The main approach starts from Mechit hut, about three hours north of the top. The peak is granite covered with high-mountain vegetation and dwarf pine.

The peak is also called Golyam Mechit (Big Mechit), a name that distinguishes it from the smaller Mechit nearby. The Mechit hut stands about three hours north of the summit, in the Lopushnitsa valley, and serves as the usual starting point for the ascent.
