Seville Fair, Annual fair in Seville, Spain
The Seville Fair, officially called Feria de Abril, is a large annual celebration held in a dedicated fairground with hundreds of white canvas tents. The grounds feature stages for performers, food stalls, bars, and open spaces where people walk, dance, and gather.
The event began in 1847 as a livestock market for local farmers and merchants. Over time it evolved into a major celebration focused on music, dance, and social gatherings.
The fair brings local culture to life through live flamenco performances and traditional Andalusian dance everywhere in the grounds. You will see women in ruffled polka-dot dresses and men in classic suits, reflecting how locals celebrate together.
The fair runs for about one week, typically two weeks after Easter, with most activity happening in the evenings and at night. Wear comfortable shoes because you will walk long distances across the large grounds.
Many tents are owned by private families or groups who entertain guests with food, drinks, and music inside. This creates a social experience where people celebrate within close circles rather than as one large public event.
