Convento de San Pedro Mártir

The Convento de San Pedro Mártir is a former Dominican complex in Toledo featuring three distinct interior courtyards. The structures combine Gothic and Renaissance elements with stone details, columns, and arched colonnades throughout different sections.

A medieval king established the original convent in the 1200s in a different location across the city. It was later rebuilt after receiving land from a wealthy family.

The interior reflects the work of a local master craftsman who shaped Renaissance design in the region. Students now study within these spaces, mixing their daily routines with centuries of artistic heritage.

The site now operates as part of a university and access can vary depending on academic activities. Visitors should check ahead to confirm which areas are open, since students regularly use the spaces.

A prominent Renaissance artist designed the church and sacristy with their distinctive three-nave layout. These rooms display features that are uncommon in other buildings from that era.
