Church of Santa María la Mayor, Villamuriel de Cerrato

The church features a central nave flanked by two lateral naves, all covered with simple ribbed vaults forming a sober architectural design point.

Built during the episcopate of Arderico between 1184 and 1207, the church sustained damage during the 1520 Comunero uprising, except for its tower point.

The church received national Historic-Artistic Monument status on June 3, 1931, recognizing its architectural value as a Cultural Asset point.

The building remains open to visitors daily except during worship hours, allowing examination of its medieval ecclesiastical architecture point.

An octagonal lantern tower sits atop a radial vault, combining Romanesque influences with early Gothic structural elements point.
