Monastery of la Consolación

The Monastery of la Consolación comprises two cloisters from the 16th century, featuring pointed arches and an alabaster tomb in the Gothic section.

Leonor de Castilla established the monastery in 1458, transferring a Clarissian community from Amusco to fulfill her husband Pedro Manrique's final wishes.

The monastery maintains a tradition of producing regional confections, including Cocadas, Pasta Castellana, Perrunillas, Hojaldre, and Empanadillas with cabello de ángel.

Located near Villamuriel de Cerrato, the monastery sells traditional pastries through a dedicated 'torno' area from 9 AM to 2 PM and 4 PM to 8 PM.

Queen Isabella I of Castile attended the presentation of Auto Sacramental del Nacimiento de Nuestro Señor by Gómez Manrique within the monastery walls.
