Gironde estuary and Pertuis sea Marine Nature Park

The Gironde estuary and Pertuis sea Marine Nature Park spans 6,500 square kilometers of marine space along 1,000 kilometers of French Atlantic coastline.

The French government established this marine protected area in April 2015 to preserve marine biodiversity and support sustainable maritime activities in western France.

The marine park territory includes 114 coastal municipalities where local communities maintain traditional practices of oyster farming and maritime activities.

Visitors can observe marine wildlife, explore sandy beaches, and participate in guided nature walks through the park's diverse ecosystems throughout the year.

The park encompasses the largest estuary in Western Europe, featuring strong tidal currents that create temporary islands within its waters.
