Stadion Kantrida, Croatian football stadium
Stadion Kantrida is a football stadium in Rijeka located in the western part of the city between steep cliffs and the Adriatic Sea. It holds approximately 10,600 spectators and features multiple seating sections, including a dedicated area for away supporters.
The stadium was founded in 1913 on the site of a former stone quarry and initially hosted football matches as well as bicycle and dirt-track racing events. After being damaged in World War II, it was rebuilt and later equipped with modern facilities such as floodlights installed in 1975.
The stadium takes its name from the Kantrida neighborhood where it stands. Beyond football matches, the venue hosts concerts and cultural events that bring the local community together throughout the year.
The easiest access is by bus number 1 from the historic city center, which runs directly to the stadium. The venue is about 5 kilometers west of the center and can be reached from motorway A7 via exit 5, following signs toward the city and then Liburnijska Street.
The stadium sits in an unusual location between steep rocky cliffs and the sea, making it one of the most spectacular football grounds in the world. The home team has not lost a match there since 1990, giving the place legendary status among supporters.
