Humewood Castle

Humewood Castle extends across 32,668 square feet of space, featuring granite towers, turrets, and battlements overlooking 427 acres of parkland grounds.

The Hume family established their presence in Ireland during the fifteenth century and constructed their initial castle at Kiltegan before the current structure.

The principal rooms of the castle include grand spaces such as drawing rooms, dining halls, and ballrooms positioned on the first floor for security reasons.

The castle remains closed to visitors, but the surrounding village of Kiltegan offers views of the Hume family mausoleum at St Peters Church of Ireland.

The construction of the castle led to legal disputes when costs exceeded the budget by £10,000, resulting in a court case between the architect and builder.
