Har Senaim, Mountain summit in Golan Heights, Israel and Syria.

Har Senaim is a mountain summit in the Golan Heights standing 1,194 meters above sea level, located on the border between Israel and Syria. Ancient ruins dot the peak, and the site sits within a landscape of volcanic rock and plateaus.

The site was settled in antiquity by Greeks and Romans, as shown by archaeological discoveries on the peak. A Roman temple with inscriptions mentioning Emperor Hadrian reveals the region's importance during classical times.

The mountain carries names with different meanings in Hebrew and Arabic, reflecting how various cultures have shaped this place. Local communities connect their own stories and memories to this summit.

This border area requires visitors to check access permissions in advance before exploring the mountain trails. Bring plenty of water and sturdy footwear, as the paths cross rough volcanic terrain.

At the summit sits a temple altar carved directly into the bedrock, depicting the sun god Helios in relief. This carved shrine offers a rare glimpse into how ancient worshippers expressed their spiritual beliefs in stone.
