Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, State university in Vadodara, India

The university spreads across six locations with 89 departments offering programs from undergraduate to doctoral level. The institution includes 15 faculties and 17 residential buildings where students study subjects from medicine to commerce.

The institution began as Baroda College in 1881 and gained university status in 1949 through the support of the Gaekwad family. Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III and his grandson Pratap Singh Gaekwad promoted its expansion into a full university.

The music college within the university was the first such institute in India and continues teaching classical performance through traditional methods. Students learn ragas and dance movements in classes often held in historic halls.

The locations are scattered across Vadodara, so visitors should research specific building addresses beforehand. The campus is large and requires time to move between different areas.

The dome over the arts faculty is the second largest in Asia and combines Buddhist with Ottoman design elements. The architecture shows visible influences from different periods and regions.
