Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park, National park in South Goa, India
Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park is a protected area in the South Goa district of India, covering dense Western Ghats forests. The park includes several waterfalls, rivers, and tropical vegetation that spread across different elevations.
Authorities established the protected area in 1978 to preserve threatened animal species of the region. The designation marked an early step in nature conservation for the state of Goa.
The sanctuary bears the name of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, reflecting the religious connections of the Western Ghats region.
The park can be visited throughout the year, with guided tours starting from the entrance near Mollem village. Travel from Panaji takes about two hours by car or bus.
The Dudhsagar waterfalls within the park cascade over several rock tiers, creating a white curtain of water that gave the spot its name. Visitors can reach the falls after a short walk through the forest.
