Kishkinta, Amusement park in Tambaram, Chennai, India
Kishkinta is an amusement park in Tambaram near Chennai, India, featuring water attractions, roller coasters, and children's rides across 49 hectares (121 acres) with six artificial lakes. The grounds include shaded walkways, lawns, and seating areas distributed between the rides and water features.
Film producer M C Punnose opened the facility in August 1995 through a partnership involving Navodaya Films, Berjaya Leisure, and the Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation. The site expanded over the following years with additional rides and water installations.
Families from across the Chennai region visit on weekends to spend time together between rides, stopping at snack stalls that line the pathways. Children often celebrate birthdays here, gathering in shaded areas near the water features where groups share meals and watch others enjoy the attractions.
The grounds open from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM Monday through Saturday and extend to 7:00 PM on Sundays, with Wednesday closures. Visitors should wear comfortable clothing and shoes, bringing water during summer months as the pathways between attractions can be long.
Ten thousand saplings planted since opening now provide shade and habitat for numerous bird species across the grounds. The artificial lakes collect rainwater, which is later used to irrigate the lawns and supply the water attractions.
