Kolahoi Glacier, Himalayan glacier in Anantnag district, India

The Kolahoi Glacier extends for 5 kilometers below Mount Kolahoi, forming the primary source of water for the Lidder River in Kashmir Valley.

Dr. Ernest Neve from the United Kingdom completed the first documented ascent to the adjacent Kolahoi Peak in 1912, marking the beginning of mountaineering expeditions.

Local populations regard the glacier and its surrounding peaks as sacred sites, reflecting traditional connections between nature and regional beliefs.

Between March and October, trekkers can access the glacier through a demanding 21-kilometer trail starting from Aru village near Pahalgam.

The glacier surface decreased from 13.57 square kilometers in 1963 to 10.69 square kilometers in 2005 due to temperature changes and black carbon concentration.
