Tiger Hill, Kargil, Mountain summit in Dras, India
Tiger Hill rises to an elevation of 5,307 meters in the Himalayan range, offering views over National Highway 1 connecting Srinagar to Kargil.
Indian forces recaptured Tiger Hill on July 8, 1999, after coordinated attacks involving multiple regiments and artillery bombardment during the Kargil War.
The peak stands as a symbol of military valor, commemorated by both Indian and Pakistani forces for the actions of their soldiers in battle.
Visitors require special permits and guidance to access the area due to its military sensitivity and high-altitude location in the Dras-Kargil region.
The mountain features a 1,000-foot vertical cliff that Indian troops from the Ghatak platoon scaled during the night to surprise enemy positions.
