Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary

Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in the western Satpura Range with mixed dry deciduous forests, riverine zones, and grasslands. The terrain contains multiple habitats that support diverse animal and plant life.

The area gained protected status in 1982 under the original name Dumkhal Sanctuary, established specifically to protect sloth bears. Later, the sanctuary expanded to safeguard more animal species and their habitats.

Local communities living near the sanctuary participate actively in its protection and management efforts. Their traditional ways of using natural resources support the conservation work that keeps the forest healthy.

The sanctuary is open for visits from sunrise to sunset, with winter months between November and February offering the best conditions for observing wildlife. Access can vary based on weather and road conditions, so checking ahead helps visitors plan their trip effectively.

The Zarwani waterfall flows through the sanctuary and drops across rocky formations. This natural water source plays a vital role in sustaining the animals living in this region.
