Bisle Reserve Forest, Reserved forest in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district, India
Bisle Reserve Forest is a protected woodland that spans across Hassan, Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada districts, with several hills including Pushpagiri, Kumara Betta and Dodda Betta rising within it. The area contains a check post, residential huts at Budi Choudi, and viewing platforms situated along the Addahole river.
The forest was originally designated as a reserve to protect the natural resources and biodiversity across this region. In 2012, there was a proposal to integrate it into the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary to strengthen conservation efforts.
Local communities actively participate in protecting this forest and respond quickly to fires during dry seasons. Their daily work helps prevent illegal logging and keeps the woodlands thriving.
The forest is accessible through a check post where visitors can obtain information and plan their visit. Viewing platforms along the river offer good opportunities for observation, especially during early morning or late afternoon hours.
A distinctive feature of this area is Mankanahalli lake, which has a rare geographical property where water flows in two different directions. This uncommon watershed means the lake simultaneously feeds both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
