The bronze statue portrays the poet Mirza Alakbar Sabir seated in a contemplative position on a black granite pedestal near Istiglaliyyat Street.
The current monument, erected in 1958, replaced an earlier 1922 version that featured the poet standing upright on a reinforced concrete base.
The monument commemorates Mirza Alakbar Sabir, an Azerbaijani poet who wrote about social and political issues through satirical verses in the early 1900s.
Visitors can reach the monument by walking through the Old City district, where it stands near the Ismailiyya building within a public park.
The monument's design incorporates dark polished Labrador granite for its base, connecting traditional materials with modern architectural elements of the 1950s.
