Shirvanshah's Palace Mausoleum

The Shirvanshah's Palace Mausoleum is an octagonal stone structure with a cruciform interior hall topped by a domed roof. Six underground burial chambers beneath the main level hold the remains of members from the ruling dynasty.

This burial structure was commissioned by Khalilullah I between 1435 and 1436 as part of the broader Palace complex. The construction reflected the architectural achievements of the Shirvanshah rulers during that period.

The entrance portal displays religious inscriptions and decorative medallions that reflect the spiritual beliefs of the ruling dynasty. Poetry carved into the walls connects this burial place to the intellectual life of medieval Baku.

The mausoleum welcomes visitors daily as part of the larger Palace of the Shirvanshahs museum complex located in Baku's UNESCO-listed Old City. Access to the interior chambers and decorative details is straightforward when visiting the site.

Archaeological digs in 1947 uncovered personal items such as a gold earring and comb from the underground chambers. These discoveries provide a glimpse into the burial customs and daily life of the ruling class during that era.
