Mausoleum of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi

The mausoleum is an octagonal stone building with a conic cupola located in the middle courtyard of the Palace of Shirvanshahs. Its construction combines an overground ceremonial space with an underground burial chamber lit by decorative windows.

Built in 1457, the structure serves as the final resting place of philosopher Seyid Yahya Bakuvi. Its construction represents an important moment in medieval architectural history of Baku.

The structure shows northern Azerbaijani memorial architecture with walls incorporating wool fabric reinforcement and colored plaster decorations. Visitors can observe the crafted details that typically define this type of building.

The mausoleum is accessible through the Palace of Shirvanshahs complex and can be explored during a visit to the courtyard. The three stone lattice windows allow views into the interior chambers from outside.

The building uses uncommon construction techniques rarely seen in Baku, including specialized plastering methods. The geometric patterns within the cupola structure demonstrate craftsmanship that was remarkable for its time.
