Old City Museum Center, Museum center in Old City of Baku, Azerbaijan
The Old City Museum Center occupies multiple buildings within the medieval walls of Baku, featuring exhibitions about local heritage and archaeological discoveries.
Established in December 2018 by the Cabinet of Azerbaijan, the museum center stands near the Shirvanshahs Palace Complex dating from the 12th century.
The institution preserves a collection of photo negatives, applied arts, numismatics, rare books, and archaeological items representing Azerbaijani cultural development.
Located on Boyuk Gala Street 41, the museum welcomed 341,728 visitors in 2019 and maintains permanent exhibitions enhanced by modern technology presentations.
The museum center operates within a UNESCO World Heritage site that includes the Maiden Tower and sits 28 meters below sea level.
