Parachute tower in Baku

The Parachute Tower on Seaside Boulevard is a 75-meter-tall structure with an electronic display showing time, temperature, and wind data. It stands as a visible landmark that provides weather information and serves practical functions for people moving through the area.

Built in 1936 by the Baku Worker machine-building plant, it was the tallest structure in the Soviet Union when completed. The tower later became a training center for the widespread sports parachuting movement that developed across the country.

During Soviet times, parachuting was part of youth training programs designed to prepare people for military service. The facility became a place where young people learned jumping skills and gained physical experience through organized activities.

The tower is easily visible and accessible by foot from the Seaside Boulevard area. Visitors can take time to observe the display information and explore the surroundings at their own pace.

The structure had four jumping platforms at different heights of 10, 20, 25, and 60 meters, allowing participants to build skills gradually. Each platform offered a different level of challenge and experience for learners at various stages.
